How to Draw Cartoon Dragons Step by Step Drawing Lesson

Step 1

Lightly draw 2 ovals in the shape of a #8.

Step 2

– Draw a long neck with a #8-shaped body.

– Draw letter ‘v’ shaped horns and letter ‘u’ shaped nostrils.

– Draw a sideways letter ‘M’ in the face.

Step 3

– Draw a #9-like shaped eye and a circle eye.

– Draw a letter ‘J’ in the mouth area.

– Draw ovals for feet.

– Draw stick arms and circle hands.

Step 4

– Draw a #3-like shape at the top of the head.

– Draw circles in the eyes.

– Draw letter ‘v’ shaped spikes.

– Draw a curved line for the neck.

– Outline the arm guides.

– Draw circles for toes.

Step 5

– Draw letter ‘U’ shaped cheeks.

– Draw seed shaped nostrils.

– Draw a lowercase letter ‘r’, letter ‘s’, and a #2-like shape around the leg/feet area.

– Draw a letter ‘s’ shaped tail.

Step 6

– Outline the hand / finger guides.

– Draw a few curved lines.

– Draw letter ‘v’ shaped nails (and one diamond shape).

Step 7

– Finish off the nails with curved lines.

– Finish outlining the feet and tail guides.  Draw a letter ‘v’ shape at the end of the tail.

– Draw circles for the highlights in the eyes.

Step 8

– Draw a letter ‘s’ shape in the chest area. Then draw curved lines all down the belly.

– Erase the guidelines (blue in this tutorial). Then thicken the lines to make the dragon look sharper.
