How to Draw Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon 2 in Easy Steps Tutorial
Toothless is the adorable dragon that Hiccup saved after shooting him down. They became best friends and he now is part of all of Hiccup’s journeys. Today I will show you how to draw Hiccup without all his reins and chains. I thought that would make drawing him too difficult. Have fun!
How to Draw Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon 2 in Easy Step by Step Drawing Tutorial
Step 1
– Draw a potato-like shape
Step 2
– Draw guidelines thru the potato shape.
– Use these guidelines to place eyes…one of them is a seed-shape…the other one is a capital letter ‘D’ shape.
Step 3
– Draw sideways letter ‘U’ shapes on the face.
– Draw letter ‘V’-like shapes on top of the head.
– Draw ovals in the eyes…one eye gets a line in it.
Step 4
– Outline Toothless’ face.
– Draw an oval highlight in each eye and then fill it in.
– Draw lines for nostrils.
– Draw a curved line for the mouth.
– Draw ovals on the forehead.
Step 5
– Draw a sideways ?-like shape on the right side of the mouth.
– Draw an ovalish shape for the body.
Step 6
– Lightly draw a sideways #8 shape formed out of 2 ovals.
– Draw a bubble-letter ‘s’ shape for the right wing.
– Draw a backwards ?-like shape for the left leg.
– Draw a rectangle and 2 lines for the right leg.
Step 7
– Draw a curved line on the right wing.
– Draw 2 ovals forming a #8-like shape under the right wing.
– Outline the right foot and then draw a letter ‘S’-like shape on the right side of it.
– Draw a letter ‘s’-like shape in between the legs…as well as a curved line.
– Draw some details on the left wing
Step 8
– Draw a letter ‘S’-like shape to the right of the back foot.
– Draw the tail.
– Draw #2-like shapes for the tops of toes.
– Add some other details.
Step 9
– Draw some letter ‘V’ shapes for nails.
– Draw a #5-like shape for the tip of the tail.
– Draw some other details on the tail.
– Draw sideways #3-like shape for the bottom of the right wing.
– Draw some of the details of the left wing.
Step 10
– Draw some of the lines in the wing.
– Draw some #3-like humps on the tail-wing.
– Add some other details that are highlighted.
Step 11
– Draw some wavy lines on the tail-wing…and 2 ovals.
– Draw letter ‘V’-like shapes inside the left wing.
Step 12
– Finish the design on the tail-wing. Erase guidelines.
Finished Drawing of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon 2
– Darken any lines that are still in need of assistance. You can colorize him or just shade him in. I started shading the eyes. I also added some circles and ovals lightly on the legs. I didn’t have time to color him in but maybe you do. I hope that you had fun!

i still don’t get it it is supper hare to draw toothless i mean i can draw a wolf and a horse and a flower but this is hard
It’s ok, you just need practice. I myself took a long time before I got to where I am. You’ll eventually get to a point where you’re good someday (you just need to draw every day for a lonnnnnnnggggg time ;D).

Great drawing but the instructions were not very good. Mine still turned out good though.?

I added a few things to the drawing to make it more realistic, like eyelids, a crease above the nose, “eyebrows” and a bit more character to bring Toothless to life on my paper. I used this tutorial to prove my friend that I could indeed draw Toothless.
