How to Draw a Cartoon Dog’s Face or Head in Easy Steps

Here is a cartoon tutorial that I found in a very old cartooning book. I thought I would post it today…but a little bit more broken down to make it easier for you. This dog was drawn with alphabet letters, numbers, and simple shapes. I hope this lesson helps you draw a cute cartoon doggy.

How to Draw a Cartoon Dog’s Face or Head in Step by Step Drawing Tutorial

Step 1

– Lightly draw a letter ‘D’ shaped face. Then draw guidelines thru it.

Step 2

– Draw a heart-like shape below the letter ‘D’ shape. As seen here above.

Step 3

–  Draw a letter ‘D’ nose.

– Draw 2 curved lines for the neck.

Step 4

– Draw ovals for eyes.

– Draw a letter ‘c’ shape for the collar.

– Draw a letter ‘U’ shaped tongue.

Step 5

– Draw another letter ‘C’ shape for the collar.

– Draw a capital letter ‘D’ shaped ear.

– Draw ovals inside the eyes.

– Draw a sideways, capital letter ‘B’ shape in the snout.

Step 6

– Draw comma shaped eye brows.

– Draw a letter ‘V’ and ‘J’ shape to the mouth area.

Step 7

– Draw letter ‘M’-like shapes on top of the dog’s head.

– Draw a letter ‘Y’ shape under the chin.

– Add a few other details to the face…as highlighted above.

Step 8

– Draw a rectangle highlight in the nose.

– Draw letter ‘M’ shapes on the ears.

Step 9

– Erase guidelines.

Step 10

– Darken some lines.

– Shade it in a bit … you might even want to color it in too.
