– Lightly draw an oval. Draw guidelines thru the center.
– Lightly draw ovals and a rectangle.
– Draw a letter ‘C’ shape on either side of the face.
– Lightly draw guidelines within the face.
– Draw a thick-lined chin.
– Draw a #3-like shape on top of the arm-ovals.
– Draw letter ‘C’-shaped ears.
– Draw a letter ‘v’-shaped nose.
– Draw sideways letter ‘S’-shaped curves for the eye brows.

– Draw sideways letter ‘J’ shapes for the eyes.

– Draw a squiggly line for the back of the cape.
– Draw triangle shapes and an upside down letter ‘L’ shape at the bottom of his chest.
– Draw details in the hands.
– Draw the bottom of the cape with letter ‘s’-like curves.
– Add finishing details and erase the guidelines.

This was a really great illustration. So simple to execute, but really effective to get the expression. I especially love the eyes and the mouth. Much better technique than my usual style of drawing ovals. I really learnt something today
